Indian fashion rebel Manish Arora may not be the first Indian to be invited abroad to showcase his designs, but he may well have cracked the code on what Paris wants from Indian designers.
Arora’s latest show at the recently concluded Wills India Fashion Week had a madcap futuristic, outer-space theme to it. While it seemed shocking to the uninitiated Indian audience, international buys felt that’s what made his designs stand out in a sea of ethnic-inspired clothing.
The designer often called the Galliano of India is no stranger to theatrics. He is known to take risks and create over the top ensembles. This time his risk paid off.

Manish Arora is invited to show case his designs at the prestigious Paris Fashion Week in September-October.
Didier Grumbach, president of Federation Francaise de la Couture Du Pret-a-porter des Couturiers et des Createurs de Mode, who invited Arora, said:
Manish Arora is a designer who takes risks and then wins.
While most designers at Wills India Fashion Week showcased, predictably, designs for next season, Arora whisked away his eager audience all the way to 2015.
His collection was a forecast of what people in 2015 would be wearing. This won him much praise from the visiting London Fashion Week representatives as well.
Anna Orisini, President of London Fashion Week said:
Manish Arora’s work is of international standards with something unique and new. He is ready to enter the international arena and show his collection outside India. Anamika has an interesting point of view too.
